Not sure what lens to buy? Should I buy a Nikon or a third party lens like a Tamron or a Sigma?
Difficult decisions to be made and budget will be one of the big factors that will influence your decision. Third party lenses offer good quality and great value for money and are often the choice for beginners on a budget in general however the qualit is better with the proprietory lens (Nikon, Canon, Olympus etc.)
Having said this do not assume that third party lenses are poor quality. This is not the case and you will regularly find that Canon or Nikon do not offer the lens features that you may want, certainly look at the Tamron or Sigma lens range in this case.
Durability us also an issue especially if you intend to trade in your lenses at a later date. Canon or Nikon lenses will hold their value better than a Tamron or Sigma.
Make sure that the Tamron or Sigma is compatable with your digital SLR before buying. Check also what features will work with your newer Nikon or Canon EOS camera. Some lenses will be compatable but may not offer all the features. Check especially for manual focus and special fast focus options available on your digital SLR.
So as you can see it is not a straightforward decision and whether you are looking for a zoom lens for your Canon or a macro lens for your Nikon. The decision will really depend on your photography needs and the money you have in your pocket.
At the camera lens Shop we will do our part to make sure you get the best prices for your digital camera lenses whether you decide to go for Canon, Nikon, Tamron or Sigma.
