The 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor is a medium telephoto lens built for the line of digital SLR cameras and incorporates vibration reduction, internal focusing, and Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass for fantastic sharpness and color accuracy. The lens has the "DX" designation and is intended to be used purely with Nikon's ldigital SLR cameras and is comparable to an 82-300mm in similar 35mm lenses. Nikon has included the advanced Silent Wave focus system for fast, very accurate focusing with a minimum of sound. The "G" designation means that the lens has a more compact design, weighing in at a mere 11.6 ounces, yet has many of the features used in the higher-end "D" series Nikkor lenses by giving highly accurate distance and light data to the camera processor. The focus-mode switch enables you to choose either manual or auto focus options on the lens.
